A travel advisory has been in effect in Germany for a few days for all Austrian federal states except Carinthia. For Tyrol, Vienna and Vorarlberg from the beginning of October. Carinthia has now also moved to the German Red List; a travel warning now applies to all of Austria. The measure will take effect on Saturday at midnight, as the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced in Berlin on Friday. Then travelers from all over Austria must be quarantined for 14 days, but can be skipped with a COVID-19 test, which should be no longer than 48 hours. This travel advisory is likely to particularly affect winter tourism.

The coronavirus situation in Carinthia continued to worsen until Friday. With 194 new infections recorded the day before, another record in the state, the number of people infected rose to 924 currently known cases. 42 infected people were registered in the statistics as recovered. 77 Covid 19 patients were in the hospital, six of them required intensive medical treatment, the state press service reported.

Some of the new infections recorded were due to clusters in nursing homes in Klagenfurt, four of which are now affected. There was also an outbreak in a house in the Klagenfurt-Land district, the state press service said. The critical number of intensive care patients had not yet been reached with all six cases, Rudolf Likar, the chief in charge of intensive care, told the APA on Friday. The patients are distributed in several hospitals. Just out of seven Covid-19 intensive care patients at the Klagenfurt Clinic or ten in Carinthia, one will have to start postponing other interventions.
