German Bundesliga: RB Leipzig tops the standings in Stuttgart – Football – International

In early 2021, RB Leipzig at least temporarily leads the German Bundesliga. With a 1-0 win at VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 14, the Saxons are in first place.

The “Red Bulls” have more game and take an early lead after a questionable penalty. Emil Forsberg, who falls into the penalty area after a running duel with Pascal Stenzel, starts from the spot in the 22nd minute, but Gregor Kobel in the VfB area directs the ball to the crossbar with a sensational defense on his feet.

Sasa Kalajdzic does not score a goal this time, just before half-time he misses the best chance at five from a difficult position (44th).

In the second round, Leipzig took the lead and were rewarded: Dani Olmo took a deflected cross from Angelino, cleared by Marcel Sabitzer, for the well-deserved 1-0 over the line in the 67th minute.

The hitherto strong promoted side from Stuttgart remain below expectations this time around and can barely do anything against the best defense in the league for 90 minutes, the best chance was lost by forward Waldemar Anton shortly before the end (86th) .

Leipzig (31 points) stayed one point ahead of Bayern in first place. The record champions will host Mainz on Sunday (6 pm LIVE ticker). Stuttgart fell to eleventh place with 18 points.
