The inhabitants of the Innviertel region are fed up with visitors and bad jokes: from 2021 the place will be called Fugging.
No other small town in Austria has received as much attention over the years, and has attracted as many bad jokes and unwanted visitors from its residents as Fucking. Because many of the 106 neighbors (according to the state at the beginning of the year) will have enough of Fugging from Fucking in early 2021, according to an announcement from the municipality of Tarsdorf (district of Braunau), to which Fucking belongs.
Mayor Andrea Holzner (ÖVP) confirms this by phone, but does not want to say more about it, there has already been more than enough media publicity about the name of the place. After all, tourists have come by bus for years to take a photo in front of the city sign. The signs of the places were stolen again and again, until they were concreted and welded to prevent it.
The name became known, among other things, through Kurt Palm’s police thriller “Bad Fucking,” which was later turned into a film by Harald Sicherheitsitz. At the international level, for example, an action on the “Pornhub” website caused a sensation, which wanted to make public access available to all residents.
