Jurij Rodionov is in the second round of his debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament! The 21-year-old beats Jeremy Chardy at the French Open 3: 6, 4: 6, 7: 6 (6), 6: 4, 7: 5.
The number 169 of the ATP world rankings fights in the first two sets with the French veteran, but the 33-year-old is still on top. In the third set, the fighting qualities are effective, Rodionov breaks his opponent to 5: 5 and defends a match point in the tie-break when the score is 5: 6.
The Austrian also throws the fourth set on his side and has to contest a fifth set for the first time in his career. An exam Rodionov passed with great difficulty. He can only use his seventh match point.
His first win on the tour saw him in a second round duel with Borna Coric (CRO-24) or Norbert Gombos (SVK).
