A freight train derailed on Friday night at the St. Valentin train station (Amstetten district). There are delays on the trains.
The incident occurred around 10:45 pm at the St. Valentin train station in Lower Austria. A coal freight train traveling from Poland to Linz was affected. The overhead line and tracks were severely damaged. A railway replacement bus service has already been established for regional traffic in western Lower Austria.
The reason for the derailment is currently unclear and is under investigation. “The ÖBB repair teams immediately began to repair the damage. Two lanes have been available again for long-distance passenger and freight traffic since 5:00 am. Delays in long-distance traffic are still expected,” he said ÖBB.
