Freight train derailed at St. Valentin: lockdown and delays

A freight train derailed on Friday night at the St. Valentin train station (Amstetten district). The ÖBB announced. Nobody was hurt. However, the airline and tracks were severely damaged, leading to a blockade and delays in trains along the western route. For regional traffic, a railway replacement bus service was established in western Lower Austria. It is unclear why the train derailed and is still being investigated.

Since 5:00 am, two lanes have been available again for long-distance passenger and cargo traffic. Delays in long-distance traffic are still expected.” said the ÖBB.

Regional and long distance connections are affected by the closure of the route. There is a train substitution service from St. Peter-Seitenstetten to St. Valentin and from St. Valentin to Ernsthofen.
