“Free trials”: Dornauer recommends SPÖ-No in the Federal Council

The Tyrolean SPÖ chief sees a “turquoise green blind flight” in the bill for the “freest”, and the leader of his federal party is expected to comment only on Sunday. The FPÖ also sticks to their criticism.

The Tyrolean head of the SPÖ, Georg Dornauer, is clearly against the law put forward by Türkis-Grün on the “release” of the blockade and recommends that his party vote against it in the Federal Council. “The SPÖ will certainly not play the co-pilot on this turquoise green blind flight,” Dornauer told the Austrian Press Agency on Saturday. The FPÖ was also adamant in its criticism of the project. The Neos are still waiting with determination.

Dornauer said that he had already spoken with SPÖ’s Tyrolean federal councilor, Stefan Zaggl, about this. “For our part, there is definitely no approval of these amendments to the Covid Measures Law,” said the Tyrolean president. The opposition parties SPÖ, FPÖ and Neos could thwart the coalition’s plan, because all three have the option to delay the law in the Federal Council and thus avoid it de facto due to the calendar.

“From our point of view, anyone who adheres to the strict lockdown until January 18 does not need a confirmation to be able to visit a retail store or an inn,” argued Dornauer. He called the short review period “very troublesome” and “barely outgrown in arrogance.”

“The government is acting randomly and irresponsibly in the new year,” Dornauer said, speaking of “obviously unconstitutional bills.” In any case, there was no approval of Tyrol, so the leader of the state party, and he came out in favor of the same approach regarding the whole party.

There was still no specification of this on Saturday. For Sunday, however, a press conference by the leader of the Federal Party, Pamela Rendi-Wagner, is scheduled. The Neos also want to speak at an online press conference on Sunday.

FPÖ: “meaningless mandatory tests”

The FPÖ was not shy and did not hide its rejection on Saturday. Club president Herbert Kickl was pleased with the large number of negative expert opinions despite the short notice. A look at Parliament’s website showed that there were already more than 1,200 by noon on Saturday. The tenor was negative, the short review period was “one cheek”, so one voice among many. The Freedom Party criticized the website for being temporarily unavailable.

Kickl spoke in a broadcast of “nonsensical coercive evidence” and a “black and green house arrest law.” It found a smear comedy in view of the fact that the office of Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) had invited a meeting with parliamentary clubs on Monday morning after the meeting of the main committee of the National Council. “With that, obviously, you want to disguise yourself as a false participation of the opposition in this highly explosive law-making process.”

No Kogler details

However, Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler left open in the radio series Ö1 “Im Journal zu Gast” exactly how freedom is organized. It is not yet clear if there will be an unequal treatment between culture, sport and gastronomy in the controls of the tests, because the corresponding regulations do not yet exist. The constitutional service in the Federal Chancellery is reviewing.

Once again, Kogler emphasized that no mandatory vaccinations were planned. Even a free vaccination, that is, “one shot as a prerequisite for everything,” will not be prescribed by the state. However, the way in which the private ones are handled for their own affairs would have to answer themselves.

The president of the Chamber of Commerce, Harald Mahrer, described the periodic tests on the “Kurier” as a transitional instrument until the situation is alleviated with vaccination. It’s for weekly tests: “I don’t know if public authorities can do that.”

On the question of whether a fourth lockdown could be handled, Mahrer said: “Everything can be handled. The damage will continue to grow, and the question is how long the recovery will take.”
