FPÖ Councilor Hannes Grenl from Bischofstetten shared a photo on a WhatsApp group comparing Corona’s measures to the Holocaust.
In a WhatsApp group, whose members are all councilors from the commercial city of Bischofstetten in Lower Austria, the FPÖ Hannes Grenl’s mandate caused a sensation with a message. The image transmitted by Grenl to the group showed the Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz, but instead of the inscription “Work makes you free”, you read “The tests make you free” in its version.
“I was not there”
“There are really no words for this comparison,” criticized SPÖ councilor Franz Punz. The photo would “greatly trivialize” the crimes of the Nazi dictatorship. Hannes Grenl said opposite “Today” to the incident that he did not write the post, but simply shared it. “It’s about the massive personal restrictions, all unconstitutional,” Grenl said at the “Today”-Interview. The FPÖ man alludes to the crown measures of the federal government. Grenl firmly rejected the charge that he was downplaying Nazi crimes. “I wasn’t there,” he said.
