FPÖ – Lausch: Smuggling in Austria’s prisons is thriving and the Minister of Justice is idly watching | Freedom Parliamentary Club

Vienna (OTS) “According to media reports, mobile phone smuggling is thriving in Austrian prisons, and Justice Minister Zadic is watching it passively. It seems that it is very easy for prisoners to get mobile phones. It cannot be that the prison guards also have to be insulted and ridiculed by the prisoners, just because the whole system fails here, ”criticized Christian Lausch, a liberal member of the National Council, who also sent a written request to the Minister Intervened.

“Minister Zadic must finally take concrete steps to put an end to this smuggling. Now that the number of smuggled mobile phones has soared, the minister must finally rethink. Among other things, ‘dual dogs’ should also be purchased that can assist the prison guards in their work, ”Lausch demanded.

“Unfortunately, in response to an investigation in March this year, the Minister of Justice has already rejected the purchase of ‘dual dogs’ on the grounds that’ the necessary efficiency when using detector dogs within the judiciary would not be greater and maintain such dogs would be expensive and laborious’, although he could not give a cost estimate. Our prison guards are completely disappointed by Minister Zadic on this issue ”, emphasized the MP of the FPÖ.
