Four districts appear to be turning red on Thursday after the Corona traffic light commission meeting. Health Minister Rudolf Anschober does not want to comment on this in the morning.

Anchober is not part of the traffic light commission and does not intervene as a politician, he said Thursday at a press conference. In view of the growing number of coronavirus infections, he called on the population to adhere to the measures. Most of this happens, “but we still have room for improvement.”

Apparently, four districts will turn red

According to the daily “Österreich” (Thursday edition), St. Pölten, Hermagor (Carinthia), Hallein (Salzburg) and Landeck (Tirol) face a red evaluation by the traffic light commission. Consequently, AGES experts met on Wednesday to lay the foundation for the evaluation by adjusting the seven-day incidence per 100,000 based on the proportion of symptomatic patients and the age of the patients. According to the newspaper, St. Pölten reported 133.4 and Hermagor 132.2. Hallein (98.2) and Landeck (94.1) are also in the red area. Vienna is in the risk-adjusted variant at 80.4 and should remain in Orange.

Corona traffic light commission meets Thursday

He still couldn’t say what the outcome of Thursday’s traffic light commission meeting would be if Anschober refused to get involved in the newspaper’s report. Has a “difficult situation”, referred to the increase in the number of crown. These are not comparable with the spring figures, because much more is being tested, emphasized the minister. However, the current strategy must now continue “in a consistent manner”. That is why it also makes an “urgent appeal” to the population to participate again as it did in the spring. There were also no comments from the traffic light commission on the report in “Austria.”

Overall, Anschober noted that states and federal districts are highly motivated to take additional regional action to correct a higher risk assessment. However, it will take a while for such measures to take effect, and the numbers could rise in the meantime.
