Chamonix marks the end of an intensive month of slalom, which ultimately turned out differently than everyone thought. No slalom at Wengen, none at Kitzbühel, but double at Flachau – and now one in the French Alps. It’s a special comeback for an Austrian: Adrian pertl took the podium at the World Cup for the first time a year ago. As a third, he entered the big stage for the first time, so to speak. For the 24-year-old one thing is clear: it is a day capo, a repetition.

The initial situation: Another Carinthian is in the spotlight besides Pertl: Marco Schwarz. He is currently ahead of the Norwegian in the Slalom World Cup Sebastien Foss-Solevaag 131 points, partner Manuel Feller He already has 165 points after his slip at Schladming. And because, according to the program, a maximum of two slaloms await after the double in France, Schwarz could already secure victory in the World Cup discipline in the French Alps. Yes “Mr. Konstanz” stays steady and reliably accelerates to the top field in all types of snow. “Of course the ball is a great goal, but there are still a few runs to go.”

The challengers: Of course it also belongs Pertl for challengers, but this year there is only one top ten result to book with tenth place at Schladming. “But the Planai was a step forward, now the task is to reduce the gap.” The other Austrians too, especially Michael Matt – they are, of course, challenging, but in addition to Foss-Solevaag you can expect the French: Clemente Noel won here last year, the World Cup leader Alexis Pinturault he finally wants to reach the top in his hometown.

Prince Charming, Part II ?: Yes, there was something else. Manuel Feller he had said after the cancellation of the Wengen slalom and the transfer of the races to Kitzbühel: “Now we are going to ride in Flachau in a fairy tale meadow and then in another in Chamonix.” A fairy tale meadow wrote a Cinderella story, yet Feller celebrated her first World Cup victory. At Schladming he failed as the halftime leader and then said: “If I win at Chamonix now, everyone will think I’m only good on easy tracks.” He would not mind: “The 100 points of victory count there as there …” Fieberbrunner would therefore have no objection to a continuation of the “ski saga” about Prince Charming, Part II, so to speak. .

Return, part II: For a second Austrian, the return to Chamonix will be special: Marc digruber The cruciate ligament was torn here a year ago; he’s struggling to get back into the top 30 on the starting list. And of course it’s about joining the World Cup team.
