Kastelruther Florian Schieder turned heads at the 2nd Downhill European Cup in Santa Caterina.

The 24-year-old took fourth place on Tuesday, at the same time as Italian Pietro Zazzi. This was also Schierer’s second best European Cup result. The day before, in the 1st descent in Santa Caterina, he was 9th among the top ten.

At the top, the Austrians celebrated a double victory. Clemens Nocker won ahead of Maximilian Lahnsteiner, who had won on Monday. The third was the Swede Olle Sundin. Schieder missed 15 hundredths of a second on the podium.

Laion’s Mattia Cason narrowly missed out on the top ten at 12th place. Francesco Gatto landed at rank 30. The other South Tyrolese Hugo Mittermair, Maximilian Ranzi and Tobias Knollseisen did not make the points.
