The Hague – Five surfers died in an accident off the Dutch coast. According to police, surfers were ripped off a beach in Scheveningen, near The Hague, on Monday in a strong wind in the rough sea.
The rescuers pulled two surfers out of the North Sea on Monday night, but despite attempts to resuscitate them, they could not be saved. Three more bodies were recovered on Tuesday.
Disappeared when training in the spray
Two of the crashed surfers were trained lifeguards, Den Haag “night mayor” Pat Smith said on the radio station. The Hague FM. They had disappeared in the spray during training, which “had fallen on them like an avalanche.”
The storm had badly stirred the sea. Rescuers also had a hard time making their way through the dew.
