The number of recorded tests more than tripled on Saturday compared to the previous week. Therefore, the armed forces sent more emergency services to the test roads.
What already emerged on Saturday in Vienna and Tyrol, among others, should be the same throughout Austria. As rumored from the crisis team on Sunday, a real run in Corona’s test bids began over the weekend. According to this, on Saturday of the previous week, 69,704 tests had been registered and this weekend on Sunday morning, 212,647 tests were registered. Later, the armed forces strengthened their assistants.
Many people willing to try
It is remarkable that the tripling can be traced back to antigen testing without exception. In the previous week, CRP tests were recorded even more frequently: 26,071 to 24,208 were in this category. The number of antigen tests increased from 43,633 in the previous week to 188,439. The reason for the rush is probably the impending loosening of the lock. Many professionals who can go back to work on Monday have to take the test. Also, there are many people willing to take the test who have to show a negative result on Monday for the use of body-friendly services.
The sharp increase in the need for evidence was also a reason for the armed forces to increase the number of their aides. According to a transmission from the Ministry of Defense, 350 more soldiers were commissioned. 150 forces are now reinforcing the test roads in Styria; Another 200 auxiliary soldiers support in Lower Austria to face the Covid pandemic. The civil authorities concerned requested assistance from the armed forces.
Armed Forces deployed at various levels
Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP) emphasized that the armed forces are deployed at various levels in the fight against the pandemic. Our soldiers and officers support nationwide testing of the population with their expertise on the many federal state testing trails. Sampling processing in action and always where it is needed in the fight against the corona virus ”.
Styrian forces, 15 of which are in the medical service, are on duty until February 28. At the existing test stations, the armed forces operate 13 test tracks, and 15 more are supported by soldiers from the armed forces. The soldiers help in the areas of organization and logistics. Military medical personnel are also on call for smears and tests.
2,800 soldiers deployed nationwide
The 200 assisting soldiers in Lower Austria will initially be deployed until February 19, 2021. They are supposed to support permanent trials in 20 district capitals and in the cities with their own status St. Pölten, Wiener Neustadt, Krems and Waidhofen an der Ybbs.
A total of around 2,800 soldiers are currently deployed nationwide. Around 700 of them support massive Covid tests in Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria, Carinthia and Burgenland. About 1,000 assistants are available for tasks such as “contact tracing” and entry checks by health authorities, which have been extended until the end of February, including about 200 at the embassy security in Vienna. More than 600 soldiers guard the state border and almost 1,000 soldiers are deployed abroad.
