“Today” has an overview of Corona’s current situation in Vienna. The large districts of Favoriten, Floridsdorf and Simmering are currently seriously affected.
The number of new corona infections in Austria has developed alarmingly recently. From Tuesday to Wednesday, 1,346 positive results were reported to the authorities again, this is the sad maximum since the beginning of the pandemic. As is often the case, Vienna had the highest value in Germany with 402 new cases. But especially in the capital, the figures give a slight hope to the figures: “If you compare the total from Monday to Wednesday of last week (1,141) with that of Monday to Wednesday of this week (1,035), we are currently 9, 3 percent lower, “wrote Mario Dujaković, spokesman for Vienna’s Health Councilor Peter Hacker, on Twitter.
But how were the positive results distributed over the last seven days in the 23 districts of Vienna? The interactive “Today”-Map (look down) provides information on this.
The new incidents of the 7 days
As reported several times, the city of Vienna does not publish district figures and only wants to be seen as a “political district” as a whole. The explanation: Due to their work and leisure activities, the Viennese don’t just stay in their residential neighborhood. “Today” now investigated the current 7-day incidents for the 23 districts of the capital, which were kept strictly under lock and key. The new document shows how many people per 100,000 residents were recently infected with Corona last week.
► Vienna’s most populous district, Favoriten, has become the city’s “Corona problem child” in recent weeks. This week, also, the tenth is 190 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (after 207 the week before) All over Vienna at the top. To rank: At 50, the renowned German Robert Koch Institute speaks of a risk region, 100 means “red” in the Corona domestic traffic light rules.
Immediately after the favorites, Simmering (186), Floridsdorf (177), Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus (175) and Meidling (168) are now on the record.
21 of 23 districts “Corona-rot”
According to the traffic light rule (Red for more than 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, note) 21 of the 23 districts would now be “Red Crown”. That’s three more than the week before. By incidence, the lowest number of new infections was most recently recorded in Penzing (81) and Währing (85). The commission will decide on Thursday whether all of Vienna will remain at the crown traffic light with “Orange” this week. A “risk adjustment” (age of patients, free intensive care beds) is always carried out for the traffic light change.
Sufficient hospital capacity
Of the 721 intensive care beds available in Austria, 107 are currently occupied. They are seven more than the previous week. Currently, 504 are being treated with Covid-19 in normal wards, that is, an increase of 79 patients compared to the previous week. Most of the active cases are currently in Vienna. Behind: Lower Austria and Upper Austria.
