Fatal crash on A1: car crashed into fuel price display

[ad_1]

The emergency services were alerted on Thursday night about an accident on the western highway at the Lindach service station (Gmunden district). A car collided with the fuel price display at the rest stop. According to police, the driver, a 57-year-old Pole, fell asleep while driving. There was also a previously unknown co-pilot in the vehicle. The emergency services had to release the two occupants of the car. Any help came too late for the 57-year-old man, he died at the crash site. The second person had to be transferred to Vöcklabruck hospital with very serious injuries. The fire department supported the clean-up work at the accident site.

It was not until June 2019 – almost a year and a half ago – that a similar accident occurred in exactly the same place, when the driver died after two days in hospital due to his serious injuries.

Access to the Lindach service station was closed to traffic for about two hours in the direction of Vienna.
