Ried im Innkreis-based aviation provider FACC briefed the workforce on Friday about the expected job cuts and the social plan negotiated with employee representatives. Move up to 700 places.

Chief Executive Officer Robert Machtlinger, the works council and union representatives will provide information, a company spokesperson confirmed in a report in the “Kronen Zeitung” (Thursday edition).

“Not far from the worst case”

Starting at 8 am, the workforce will be informed of cost reduction measures at the Ried Exhibition Center, at block events due to coronavirus. Short-time work will continue to apply at FACC until the end of September. The aviation crisis that began with the outbreak of the pandemic hit the Upper Austrian aircraft supplier hard, which is why Machtlinger made it clear in presenting the semi-annual results in August that it was not far from the “worst case scenario of 700 people” .

Most layoffs in Austria

Most of the layoffs will take place in Austria, where 3,400 people work. In total, a savings program of 15 million euros will be implemented. FACC closed the first half of the year with a drop in sales of more than a quarter and a loss of 41 million euros.
