Open for two more hours on December 8 and one more hour on Saturdays, December 12 and 19.
Vienna Social partners agreed to extend retail opening hours on December 8, 12 and 19 to unravel the flow of customers after the crown lock has been relaxed. On the feast of the Concepción de María (December 8), dealerships can exceptionally open between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., previously the opening hours of December 8 were limited to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On the two remaining shopping Saturdays before Christmas, on December 12 and 19, retailers can stay open one hour longer than usual until 7 p.m., the social partners announced Wednesday night.
Extension of opening hours
In order for the opening hours to be extended, the GPA trade union and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) have agreed an addition to the existing collective agreement for white-collar workers and apprentices in retail trade: a corresponding regulation from the Ministry is required of Work for the opening of Saturday. Working hours from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on December 8, 12 and 19 are overtime for employees, for which they receive a 100 percent salary increase.
