In the state, only the state capital and Lungau are set to “Orange”. Stronger measures are now applied in all other districts.
The federal state of Salzburg was put almost in “red” by the federal traffic light commission on Thursday. This has led to further tightening of the measures. In the districts of Salzburg-Umgebung (Flachgau), Hallein (Tennengau), St. Johann (Pongau) and Zell am See (Pinzgau) there is a total ban on events starting at midnight on Saturday. So far, only Tennengau has been affected, the district with the relatively highest number of new infections in Austria.
Events that have already been approved are also affected by the ban. Exceptions are made for sporting events in first-class sport only if they are held as part of (or in preparation for) a national or international competition. Outside, up to 1,500 people can watch with assigned seats, but spectators are not allowed in closed rooms. In addition, the restrictions introduced the previous week continue to apply across the country, for example, the curfew at 10 pm in restaurants, including the mandatory registration or the prohibition of private celebrations and parties outside the living space itself.
“For me, the main thing is to avoid a mosaic of measures. In districts with the same traffic light color, the same measures apply,” Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) emphasized on Friday. The new measures are initially limited to November 15.
Basically nothing will change for the city of Salzburg and Lungau, which yesterday went from yellow to orange. However, the state recommends allowing as much home office as possible. The latest “red notices” had no effect on schools. The educational traffic light will not be changed again today due to the upcoming fall break next week.
“Personally, I look forward to a relaxation from the fall break next week, which will then be noticeable with a time delay,” said state medical director Petra Juhasz. Of course, this only works if teachers, students, and school staff adhere to the rules to avoid infection as much as possible and not even bring them to school.
