WAC can play their home game in the 16th final of the UEFA Europa League on 18 February in Klagenfurt. The all-star ensemble receives special permission to land and eventually play in Carinthia despite the current landing ban for aircraft from England. This was confirmed by WAC club manager Markus Perchthaler at ORF on Friday.
“It took a burden off our hearts,” Perchthaler reported during the break of the Lavanttaler ÖFB Cup match in Kapfenberg. ÖFB Secretary General Thomas Hollerer informed the Carinthians in advance of the positive decision of the Ministry of Health.
As usual, Spurs can land in Austria one day before the game. In the event of a negative decision, the WAC had already addressed other options, including participation in Budapest. As in the group stage, the outsider can now play his home game in Klagenfurt.
A week later, a similar scenario emerges for the WAC on the return trip from the game back to London (February 24). So the Wolfsbergs need special permission so they don’t have to go into mandatory home quarantine.
