Austria can use the money to award grants or provide guarantees, up to € 800,000 per company. As the Commission announced yesterday, Austria submitted a new application last Thursday.

More recently, there was a dispute between the EU Commission and Finance Minister Gernot Blümel over the second phase of the fixed-cost subsidy. Blümel also wanted to declare the rest of the stretch as disaster aid. However, according to the EU Commission, it is now considered financial aid.
