End of holiday in Bavaria exit barriers on A10 active again

For example, the exit from Pfarrwerfen (Pongau) will be blocked again at the request of the police and after consultation with the mayor Bernhard Weiß (ÖVP), as announced by the State of Salzburg in a broadcast on Thursday. This time, however, the crash is temporary and not continuous. The road is still passable for emergency services.

The bans come into effect on Saturdays from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. Target traffic should avoid Pongau or Pass Lueg connection points.

Relieve neighboring communities

“Last week’s closure at the Pfarrwerfen motorway exit has provided better relief to neighboring communities. Therefore, we will adhere to this measure this week to prevent alternative traffic on state highways in the best possible way, ”said Provincial Councilor for Transport Stefan Schnöll (ÖVP).

Greater controls on the A10

There will also be greater controls by the police and a private security service. This weekend, all motorway exits between Eben im Pongau and Hallein will once again be more closely monitored. “Barriers only make sense if they are more closely controlled so that traffic stays on the motorway,” says Schnöll.

Heavy traffic expected in the Karawanken tunnel

ÖAMTC informs ÖAMTC that long waiting times are expected when traveling back to Austria, especially at the Karawanken tunnel on the Karawanken highway (A11) and at Spielfeld on the Pyhrn highway (A9).

Even if SARS-CoV-2 has greatly changed travel habits in 2020, there will be miles of traffic jams, the ARBÖ predicted. Drivers should prepare with sufficient supplies, drinks, distractions, and plans for alternate routes.
