Probably the most unusual election campaign in American history is entering the final phase. Many people in the country have apparently heard enough arguments from both candidates and have settled on one of the political camps. A good two weeks before the US presidential election, more citizens than ever before on Election Day exercised their right to vote.
According to a University of Florida ballot project, about 27.7 million US voters have so far cast their ballots by mail or in person.
“We have to keep up the incredible momentum, we can’t stop,” Democratic challenger Joe Biden said Sunday at a drive-in campaign presentation in North Carolina. The participants in their cars honked their horns in approval. “Don’t wait, vote today,” Biden urged his supporters.
During his campaign appearance, he repeatedly criticized incumbent Trump for dealing with the pandemic. Against Trump’s claim over the weekend that the United States was “over the mountain,” Biden said the number of new cases was at its highest in months. As my grandfather would say, ‘This guy doesn’t have all the cups in his closet if he thinks we’re on the hill,’ “Biden said,” he’s getting worse and he keeps lying to us about the situation.
Trump himself defended his resistance to the advice of scientists on the pandemic during an appearance in the election campaign in Carson City, Nevada, on Sunday (local time). “If I had listened fully to the scientists, we would now have a country that would be in a massive depression,” Trump said. “Instead, we are like a rocket.” Trump did not explain what he meant by that. The US economy is still in dire crisis, with millions of people out of work as a result of the wave of the virus.
Trump mocks Biden’s alleged shutdown plans
The president of the United States mocked his challenger Biden because he promised to follow the advice of scientists in the fight against the coronavirus. A little later, Trump accused Biden of imposing an “unscientific blockade” to contain the coronavirus if elected.
The pandemic is still out of control in the United States. More than 8.1 million infections have been detected since the beginning and almost 220,000 people died after being infected. You can now see an increase in new corona infections per day again. Regardless, Trump called on states to fully open on Sunday.
