Eisenstadt: guest gardens allowed in winter

From Neusiedl am See to Jennersdorf

A broadcast from the KURIER in the suburbs of the district revealed that no more pubs are planned for the winter season.

According to Elisabeth Böhm, head of the town of SPÖ in Neusiedl am See, there is already an ordinance that the guest gardens can be open all year round. “I would appreciate it if it was open in winter as well,” says Böhm. If necessary, a fee waiver should be voted on at the local council.

The situation is similar in Oberpullendorf. “I have already thought about this possibility of pub gardens in winter, but so far no company in the community has reported on it,” says Mayor Rudolf Geißler (ÖVP). The city chief is convinced that the costs, for example for outdoor heating, would be considerable. “Of course, this investment must also pay off.” If operators were interested, “a fee waiver would be worth considering,” Geissler says.

In Oberwart, Güssing and Jennersdorf, pub gardens are currently not a problem during the cold season. In Jennersdorf city center, where the guest gardens are close to the sidewalk, opening in winter would be difficult even with snow removal, says the Mayor of Listen, Reinhard Deutsch. “It’s easier in the pedestrian zone in Eisenstadt.”
