Numerous fire departments are currently in large-scale operations in the Eisenkappel-Vellach municipality. A piece of forest of approximately two hectares is on fire.
EISENKAPPEL-VELLACH. This afternoon, the volunteer fire departments in Bad Eisenkappel, Gallizien and Miklauzhof were alerted to a forest fire in Leppen. Due to drought and strong wind, a larger application scenario occurred at the site. Subsequently, the FF Bleiburg, Eberndorf, Edling, Ferlach, Gablern, Globasnitz, Grafenstein, Griffen, Loibach, Mieger, Peratschitzen, Pörtschach am Wörthersee, Rechberg, St. Margarethen im Rosental, St. Michael ob Bleiburg, Unterbergen, Vöferch Zell Pfarre and KLFV specials alerted. Two helicopters, the police, the rescue, the commander of the Helmut Blažej district fire brigade, the commander of the Helmut Malle section fire brigade and the district chief Gert Klösch are also currently on site. At the moment, fire departments are still trying to control the fire. The fire spread rapidly, and an area of around two hectares is now said to be on fire. Leppen residents are currently being evacuated.
