Lars Eidinger and Verena Altenberger are the new dream couple of the Salzburg Festival: Eidinger will take on the role of “Jedermann” in the game at Domplatz in 2021, as the festival announced in a broadcast on Friday.
The Berliner Lars Eidinger, 44, succeeds Tobias Moretti, who had already announced that he would play the rich man for the last time this year. Lars Eidinger is a multi-layered artist who appears on stage as Hamlet, Richard III. and Peer Gynt, to name just a few, has been creating theatrical events for many years. It is also present in film and television, from Ferdinand von Schirach’s award-winning Babylon Berlin about God series to international films such as Vadim Perelman’s Persian Lessons or Kristen Stewart’s Personal Shopper, the list could be expanded by many titles.
New multi-layered “everyone”
He is so successful as a photographer and in countless DJ appearances with his “Autistic Disco.” His long association with the Berlin Schaubühne under the direction of Thomas Ostermeier is a constant in his artistic life. On the way to his appearances in international films and as a DJ and on numerous guest tours by Schaubühne, his watchful eye encounters extraordinary photographic motifs.
Pongauerin is the new “compassionate”
There’s also a change to Jedermann’s side in Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s self-titled drama: TV and movie star Verena Altenberger, who comes from Pongau, will be the newest fan of the festival. The 33-year-old from Salzburg replaces Caroline Peters, who had played the legendary short and high-profile role for the first time this year.
Verena Altenberger will debut in Salzburg as a passion. After her acting training in Vienna and her first experience on stage, exciting film offerings soon emerged, including the role of the drug-addicted mother in Adrian Goiginger’s The Best of All Worlds, for which she received numerous awards. He already played with Lars Eidinger in David Schalko’s “M – A City Seeks a Killer.” He is happy to meet again in the Cathedral Square of Salzburg.
