In the wake of criticism of the coalition’s crown crisis management, FPÖ chief Norbert Hofer is calling for an all-party government to be established. “The time has come when everyone has to work together,” Hofer said. He is sure that SPÖ and NEOS will also participate.
It is not known whether the SPÖ and Neos formed a government with the FPÖ. But there is one thing that red, pink and blue agree on: the criticism of turquoise green.
SPÖ: “continuous lack of plan”
The SPÖ speaks of a “continuous random government” in the management of the crown. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz obviously deliberately created confusion, so the prosecution. SPÖ deputy club boss Jörg Leichtfried accuses Kurz of deliberately leaving open if the new restrictions also apply to the private sector, which is not covered by the law. “In crisis management you need clarity. Kurz’s statements were not clear and confusing. By doing so, you make people uneasy and blame you. This does not build trust and is one of the main reasons why the population is losing confidence in crisis management and acceptance of the crown’s measures is declining, ”said Leichtfried.
Neos: “The Fleckerl carpet doesn’t make sense”
The Neos believe that it is crucial for them that kindergartens, elementary schools and lower grades remain open.
In the education sector, as in nursing homes and old people’s homes, they again ask for uniform requirements at the federal level. “A regional patchwork rug doesn’t make sense here. Both the school management and the teachers should know how to proceed. Maximum clarity, transparency and predictability are needed for parents, teachers and also for students, ”explained NEOS Club Deputy President Niki Scherak.
FPÖ: “Government prolongs the crisis”
Hofer himself says that Turquoise-Green “no longer cooks Austrians, but cooks them. “Everything is headed toward prolonging the crisis, and the black-green federal government bears full responsibility for this endless cycle of suffering.”
Hofer sees a contradiction between infections predominantly in the private sector and escalations in the public sector. “The federal government’s argument is completely illogical. Even measures in western federal states, such as advancing the curfew at restaurants and bars, have yielded nothing based on evidence. Now the rope is being tightened in gastronomy so that it no longer gives anything to this group and does not even open it ”, said the head of the FPÖ.
In this context, Hofer condemns the move in Salzburg to quarantine an entire community with Kuchl. “Such meddling in civil liberties must be resolutely rejected and politically questionable in terms of democracy,” he says. It also criticizes the fact that there is no factual assessment of the above measures. Austria must learn from Sweden and not from failed countries.
Hofer emphasized that the economy and the job market now mainly need security. At Monday’s press conference, the federal government did not present the ordinances necessary to implement the measures. But there are many open questions of detail. Just think of the Christmas markets, which the FPÖ president suspects could not be held.
