Governor Hans Peter Doskozil suffers from a rare disease of the cartilage structure of the larynx.

The Governor of Burgenland Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) has to be operated on again. A follow-up examination at Leipzig University Hospital on Monday showed that a local intervention was necessary because “the known disease in my larynx is causing me problems again,” Doskozil said. Doctors are confident. He himself “will do everything in my power as quickly as possible to regain my former strength.”
It’s about one rare disease of the cartilage structure of the larynx, which “fortunately has nothing to do with the most common throat cancer,” Doskozil said. After the operation, however, a regeneration period of a few weeks will be necessary again.
“Do not give up”
Due to the recent operation, it was not the first time that he, his family and his fiancé were seriously thinking about whether he could continue to be active in high-level politics, the governor said. However, he eventually came to the conclusion that politicians are “completely normal people with strengths and weaknesses.” There are numerous Burmese who also face illness. “But it is important not to give up on these diseases and weaknesses,” Doskozil emphasized.
So he decided to continue. “I am not the only person who has to struggle with health problems, and I am not the only person who will come back with willpower and medical support,” Doskozil said.
