The 65-year-old driver missed two nine-year-old girls at a corner that was hard to see.

On Friday afternoon, around 4 p.m., a 65-year-old man slowly pulled a company bus out of his garage. He stopped his vehicle at a T-junction in Dornbirn and made sure it could continue. After he couldn’t see anyone, he wanted to turn right. He overlooked two nine-year-old girls in the hard-to-see corner who were sitting on the ground with their skates.

Trapped under the vehicle

The girls were trapped in the vehicle and subsequently trapped under the vehicle. Firefighters had to lift the company bus to rescue the two girls.

Seriously injured to the hospital

After rescue, they were admitted to Dornbirn hospital with serious injuries (several broken bones in the upper arm, shoulder and collarbone area).

A total of 36 emergency services (fire department, rescue, police) were on site.

The driver’s alcohol test was negative.
