The spusu Vienna Capitals also scored just one point in their second of three home games in the ICE Hockey League en suite. Two days after the 2-1 loss to Grand Immo VSV, the Viennese again lost to the Dornbirn Bulldogs in a 3-4 shootout. In the second game on Friday, Salzburg beat VSV 3-1.
In Vienna Alex Wall brought in the outnumbered hosts up front (11th), but Matthew Mackenzie in the power play (16th) and Emilio Romig (19th) gave Vorarlberg the lead before the first break. The next double belonged to the caps, Marco Richter and Philippe Lakos scored in 34 seconds (30th). A power play by Andrew Yogan (32nd) brought the game into overtime and finally to the penalty shoot-out. Yogan provided the decisive goal for Dornbirn.
In Villach through a goal from Jerry Pollastrone (12th) in the lead. The weakened Salzburg side did not reach their goals until the second half of the match, with Mario Huber (33rd), Justin Schütz (49th) and Florian Baltram (59th) responsible. “I am very proud of this character’s victory,” said Salzburg coach Matt McIlvane.
