US President Donald Trump asks his supporters to donate for legal disputes in the elections, but he also wants to use the money to pay off campaign debts. However, this can only be seen in the fine print of your donation requests.
With the Republican’s looming defeat to Democratic challenger Joe Biden, his campaign team is emailing supporters asking for money with mounting pressure.
One of these messages on Friday read: “So far you have ignored all of our emails asking you to join us in defending the elections.” Contribute and donate “immediately”. By clicking on a link in the email, the user accesses a website that says, “Democrats will try to steal this election! Please donate any amount now to uphold the integrity of our election.”
The site suggests donations between $ 5 and $ 2,800, or an amount of your choice. If you scroll down, you will find the information in the fine print that 60 percent of contributions flow to an account that is used to pay off campaign debts. First, the “Wall Street Journal” reported on it.
Trump’s lawyer: “We will play until the final whistle”
So far, Trump has presented himself as the victim of systematic voter fraud, without providing any evidence for his claims. The president announced that he would defend himself against defeat with a series of trials up to the Supreme Court. His team has now filed suit in many states, including Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia. One allegation is that the election observers were unable to adequately track the count of the vote-by-mail documents, and therefore the count should be stopped.
So far, Trump apparently is not satisfied with the work of his lawyers. According to CNN, a source reported that the president asked why his team couldn’t accomplish more. That seems to indicate that he doesn’t think his attorneys are up to the job, according to CNN. An attorney for Trump’s team said, according to CNN, “We will play with until the final whistle.”
