Dominik Szoboszlai confirms dependence on FC Red Bull Salzburg
After the “Bulls” game against LASK, in which the Mozartstadt team was able to regain the Bundesliga lead with a 3-1 win (match report >>>), the Hungarian openly answered questions about his future.
“Sky” reporter Gerhard Krabath asks Szoboszlai if it is correct that the 20-year-old is playing his last three games for Salzburg. “Yes, exactly,” Szoboszlai replied, announcing a winter transfer.
Freund: “The decision is up to Szoboszlai”
Szobozslai has the sole decision as to whether he wants to leave Salzburg. The Hungarian has the opportunity to dissolve his contract in winter through an exit clause, which should be endowed with 25 million euros and provide the Salzburgs with a high resale quota.
The hands of those in charge of Mozartstadt are therefore tied, as sports director Christoph Freund confirms in “Sky”: “The situation is as it is. Domi has developed superbly and is a very interesting player for the international football market. decide if you want to continue playing in Salzburg or if you want to go to a top international club.
Arsenal, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan and many other big clubs with big names are said to have been at Szoboszlai, but the race should now be run by RB Leipzig. Szoboszlai should see the best opportunities for further development at the Salzburg Sisters’ Club. In principle, Freund, who speaks of “some interested”, hopes that the 20-year-old will prevail everywhere.
Leipzig? Szoboszlai doesn’t want to commit yet
“I trust him that he can play an important role in the big leagues at a big club, because he has matured personally and has also taken a big step in sports,” explains Freund, who is already moving one or two players in the direction. Leipzig has lost.
Jesse Marsch did the opposite. The American moved in 2019 as Ralf Rangnick’s assistant coach from Leipzig to Salzburg, where he assumed coaching responsibility. Can you recommend Szoboszlai to move to Leipzig? “I’m always a fan of RB Leipzig because I had a good time there. I think it’s always good that the players here adapt there. But that’s not my topic,” says Marsch.
But what does Szoboszlai himself say about speculation? “Many teams have already been named. Arsenal, Real, Bayern and now Leipzig. I have not made a decision yet. I still have important games in Salzburg, then we will see,” explains the 20-year-old.
