The dispute over the glass house on Vienna’s Danube Canal will likely drag on for a while: the Supreme Court (OGH) has now ruled in favor of restorer Gerold Ecker in the current termination proceedings Water management in Vienna in conversation with KURIER.
Gerold Ecker runs the Badeschiff and the Adria pub, which also includes the glass house. It has been arguing for a long time with the city and the Danube flood protection competition (DHK, both manage the banks of the canal) in court around the areas.
The city recently terminated Ecker’s lease for the glass house. The background for this was a critical report by the Court of Auditors, which, among other things, criticized that space prices were too low. Later, the city wrote several new sections of the riverbank.

According to Wiener Gewässer Management, two courts have confirmed the termination of the glass house contract. Ecker still hasn’t cleared the area. He appeared before the Supreme Court appealing for an extraordinary appeal.
