With a powerful blow to the mayor, Vice Chancellor Greens’s boss, Werner Kogler, got into trouble. He had spoken of mayors “disoriented” by criticism of Corona’s new traffic light, apparently a reaction from Kogler to Linz city chief Klaus Luger (SPÖ), who not even an hour after the Corona traffic light was activated with yellow for Linz, on arbitrariness. it had resisted and did not want to implement the requirements. Kogler’s own goal was for him to refer to legal standards, some of which don’t yet exist for the Corona stoplight, as even his Green Party colleague, Health Minister Rudi Anschober, has admitted.
That is why now there are criticisms and calls for the resignation by the SPÖ. These also come from the deputy governor of the Lower Austrian SPÖ, Franz Schnabl, who believes that Kogler is “ready to resign”. The vice-rector is mainly criticized for not knowing the legal basis himself, but for accusing the mayors of “disorientation.” Jörg Leichtfried, vice president of the SPÖ club in parliament, accused him of this in a Twitter post.
Postponed debate with Anchober
The SPÖ reacts angrily because it has hundreds of mayors in the more than 2,000 Austrian municipalities. In the National Council, the SPÖ, as well as the rest of the opposition parties FPÖ and Neos, are eagerly awaiting the bill, which will also create new bases for the crown measures at the regional level and in accordance with the new law epidemic. The FPÖ also fired at Kogler for the charge of “disorientation”.
Green MP Elisabeth Götze stepped forward to defend and save Kogler’s honor against the SPÖ. She made it clear that she was “misunderstood” in the attack. He was only meant to be mayor. The mayor of Linz Luger, as also highlighted in the Kogler office. He receives basically positive reactions from the mayor. Götze also noted that, as announced, he is committed to expanding support for communities.
A date for an Anschober discussion for Friday this week has been postponed to probably next Monday. The opposition in House Anschober also took it badly after the latter agreed to involve Parliament more. The minister replied that the postponement had occurred at the request of a parliamentary group. The new epidemic law and the crown measures are due to be decided in the National Council on September 23, as scheduled.
