The police have banned the planned anti-French demonstration in Vienna after further examination. Interior Minister Nehammer welcomes the ban.
On Sunday assembly authorities were informed about a demonstration entitled “Against the caricatures of Muhammad.” According to the police, the information provided by the meeting bulletin did not give rise to any banning grounds due to legal requirements.
In the meantime, however, reasons have emerged to ban the meeting. “An overview has emerged that allows conclusions to be drawn that the purpose of the meeting runs counter to criminal law,” police said.
Nehammer: “Correct decision”
Interior Minister Karl Nehammer welcomes the ban on the demonstration against France by the Vienna State Police Directorate: “The new examination led to a ban on the demonstration. In my opinion, that was the only correct decision. There must be no place for the ideology of Islamism. “
And further: “Especially after the brutal attack on Monday in Vienna, it is absolutely unbearable that a group of extremists wanted to get together for a demonstration.
