A 64-year-old man from the Murtal district was riding a city bike on Rot-Strasse when suddenly a deer, frightened by hunting, wanted to cross the street. The animal hit the side of the bicycle with all its force, police said. The man fell on his bicycle and is believed to have sustained internal injuries. After first aid from the Kremsmnster rescue team and the “Christophorus 10” emergency medical helicopter team, the pensioner was airlifted to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen clinic in Steyr.
The deer kept running after the collision with the cyclist. The Rot-Strasse was closed for about 40 minutes, the low volume of traffic was diverted locally.
