A 29-year-old who was arrested after killing a 25-year-old on Sunday in Leonding (Linz-Land district) is in the forensic department of Linz prison. There, too, he could be treated, prosecution spokeswoman Ulrike Breiteneder said Tuesday. It is probable that a disease exists, it remains to be clarified to what extent it has to do with the crime.
The suspect stated during interrogations that he wanted to kill not only the 25-year-old student, but also her 39-year-old half-sister and her husband of the same age. Investigations into murder and attempted murder on two counts are ongoing.
Jealousy crystallized as the reason for the act, said the spokeswoman for the authorities. The fact that the student had a boyfriend went against the grain of the 29-year-old, who was crazy about his extended family.

The 25-year-old Honduran had been living with her 39-year-old half-sister and her husband in Leonding for a long time. The 29-year-old, who also comes from Honduras but is now a Spanish citizen and also lives in Spain with his family, came to visit shortly before Christmas.
Investigations revealed that there was an argument between the student and the Spaniard as early as Sunday morning, apparently over his advances, and the attack.

Her husband, who was still on the first floor, heard a noise around 9:00 am, followed them and was attacked by the guest with a kitchen ax. The couple’s daughter received help from her grandparents in the house next door. The father and grandfather overpowered the assailant and tied him to the basement stairs with cable ties before calling emergency services. Any help came too late for the 25-year-old, and her half-sister was rushed to the hospital.
