Gerwyn Price is a world darts champion for the first time and has therefore also been placed at the top of the world ranking.
The former rugby player won his first World Cup final against Scotland’s Gary Anderson (50) 7-3 on Sunday night at London’s Alexandra Palace, capped off a strong season with the favorites. Veteran Anderson, world champion in 2015 and 2016, could only keep up with his fifth World Cup final in the final stages.
The price needs 12 darts
Price pocketed £ 500,000 and the 25kg Sid Waddell Trophy with his 12th dart, completing his remarkable assault on the darts throne that began just six years ago. In 2013, he had been working towards a career as a professional rugby player.
Now, with his victory in the void “Ally Pally”, the “Iceman” also eliminated veteran dominator Michael van Gerwen from the top of the world darts rankings.

Anderson fell asleep the first few sentences
Anderson completely missed the opening sentences of Sunday, but had already exceeded expectations with his participation in the final. The 50-year-old rarely achieved his best form in the last year, and in the run-up to the World Cup, he also suffered from severe knee problems.
Anderson then improved game by game, winning 6: 3 in the semifinals against Dave Chisnall, who caused the biggest sensation of the tournament with his 5-0 victory over van Gerwen in the quarterfinals. As the loser in the final, Anderson now received a cash prize of £ 200,000.
