Salzburg – Saturday, November 7, 2020, 3:35 pm

Austria, represented by Mensur Suljovic and Rowby-John Rodríguez, are among the last eight teams at the Darts World Cup in Salzburg.

The rojiblanco-red duo decided the round of 16, in which two best-of-seven singles and, if necessary, a best-of-seven double, were played 2-0 against Portugal for them.

Suljovic quickly moves away to 3-0 against Joao de Sousa, number 37 in the PDC world rankings, but receives a re-break and has to accept the shortening to 2: 3. Then, the Viennese closed the match to put the 4 -2.

Rodríguez makes the break at 2: 1 against José Marqués and then leaves nothing to burn, wins 4: 1. The doubles no longer have to be played.

At the World Team Cup, which has been held since 2010, it has reached the quarter-finals for the fifth time, and Austria has never reached the semi-finals. That could also be a difficult task this time, because the next opponents on Sunday would be the English seeded, in case Michael Smith and Rob Cross prevail against Lithuania (LIVE soon on DAZN).

Round of 16 schedule, November 7:

from 1 pm:

Canada 2-0 New Zealand
Austria – Portugal 2: 0
Belgium – Latvia
England – Lithuania

from 7 pm:

Australia – Poland
Wales – Scotland
Germany – Greece
Holland – Spain

Two singles are played (best of 7 sections), if necessary a double follows (best of 7 sections).
