Unfortunately, this picture of seemingly arbitrary gift distribution is not so wrong. Nikolo is a patronizing politician this time? Retail is opening up, but gastronomy is not. Children and adolescents can go back to school (from 5th level with mask), but not all, especially students, to universities. In the ski areas, the ski lifts remain out of service until Christmas, when they are allowed to travel, but tourists cannot stay overnight. Culture plays a minor role in general: museums open, theaters not, at least not for the public. This list of contradictions could go on indefinitely.
So one wonders: where is the logic? And why are the candies being distributed, even though the infection figures are nowhere near what they should be? A few months ago we heard that the situation was threatening if there were more than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. In the end there was a multiple. If the virus is still like this, wouldn’t it have been wiser to wait a bit? Or is the danger less in December? So you have one foot locked up and the other in the mall.
Now, the author of these lines definitely does not want to speak in favor of more closures. But it would be good if a logic emerged about what is being done and why. That would facilitate compliance with the measures. But sadly, common sense also has a curfew, both in political debate and on social media. Sometime between the first and second blocks, it was lost as a core category. Initially, the government acted, now it is mainly reaction. And on both sides of the ideological dividing line, it’s mainly about attributing blame, demarcation and selfishness.
The reason cannot be based on opinion polls. Reason is also not a category of right or left. And it is a mistake to believe that voters would not be wise if they were treated transparently. Even if there are seemingly unreasonable political decisions (for example, opening schools because education is so central; or unlocking businesses because commerce cannot be ruined for years), more common sense is needed: in communication. Then it can be extended again to how each individual is dealing with the crisis.
