A serious traffic accident between a small van and a car on the municipal border between Eggendorf im Traunkreis (Linz-Land district) and Sipbachzell (Wels-Land district) caused serious injuries on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Leombacher Strae or Loibingdorf and Schnarrndorf with Eggendorfer Strae, directly on the municipal border between Eggendorf im Traunkreis and Sipbachzell. The truck’s handlebar was apparently thrown out of the vehicle during the crash and remained in the field with serious injuries. After the crash, both vehicles were also thrown into the adjacent field, where they stopped, severely damaged. Two fire departments, the emergency services, the emergency helicopter and the police were deployed. The seriously injured man was rushed to the hospital with the Christophorus 10 emergency helicopter after first aid at the site. The other two people involved in the accident apparently suffered minor injuries. The fire brigade assisted in the care of the injured, as well as in the care of the other parties involved in the accident and then in the towing company during the cleanup.
The crossing area was closed to traffic for about an hour and a half.
