In the neurosurgery intensive care unit of the Innsbruck clinic, patients with cerebral haemorrhage, stroke or brain tumors are usually patients. “We currently don’t have any of these patients in the room because we are only busy with Covid 19 patients,” said Claudius Thome, director of the University Clinic of Neurosurgery. “That in itself means a limitation on how we can serve the population,” he added.
“Massive increase” in patients
Günter Weiss, director of the University Clinic for Infectious Diseases, spoke of a “massive increase” in patients. “We assume that these numbers can continue to rise in the coming weeks. We can only fight the pandemic together if we all adhere to the measures,” said Weiss, who is also a member of the advisory team for the Corona Task Force at the Ministry of Health.
Alexandra Ciresa-König, chief physician at the University Clinic of Gynecology and Obstetrics, urged the population to wear masks. “We have been working with a mask for eight hours since March. Overload warning
