First of all, these are specific measures for the Tennengau, but it cannot be ruled out that stricter measures will be adopted for the whole state, the state of Salzburg told the APA on Sunday afternoon.

New record in Salzburg

In the last two days there has been a record in Salzburg, since the beginning of the pandemic, in the increase in the number of corona infections. The numbers have risen especially steeply in Tennengau. There are two identifiable hotspots to which a greater number of infected people can be clearly assigned: after a private wedding celebration, there are currently more than 20 infections and 100 contact persons are in quarantine. Contact tracing has not yet been completed, authorities continue to work intensively. The second access point is a care center, where four employees and five residents have tested positive for Covid-19. Three of these residents were transferred to the Salzburg University Hospital and two continue to be cared for at the facility. On Tuesday, all residents and employees will be screened again.

According to the Epidemiological Reporting System (EMS), the number of actively infected people statewide was 505 on Sunday afternoon, of which 145 were in Tennengau. From noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday, there were 76 new infections in Salzburg, 27 of them in Tennengau.

Hallein district in “orange” traffic light crown

Hallein district, which is congruent with Tennengau, is the only district in Salzburg that is orange at the crown traffic light and therefore “high risk”. The state had already tightened measures against the coronavirus in Tennengau on Thursday, since sporting events on Friday have only been allowed without spectators and a call was made for the voluntary registration of guests in restaurants. As a national measure, the restaurant curfew has been in effect since September 25 from 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The outcome of state policy deliberation on Sunday afternoon will likely be announced around 5.30 p.m.
