At the Radetzky barracks in Horn, 7 soldiers tested positive for the corona virus. The infected soldiers do not show mild symptoms to the maximum, making the recognition of COVID-19 infections difficult. The infected soldiers are four cadre soldiers and three Guard recruits.
According to the current state of knowledge, soldiers outside the barracks were infected in a civilian environment. The entire company affected from the Guard was immediately separated, and today a Covid 19 test was carried out on all the soldiers. Results should be available in 24 to 48 hours. The civil authorities are informed. All 210 recruits tested negative for Covid19 three weeks ago when they enlisted for basic military service.
The Guard Company (40 cadres and 210 recruits) have been at Radetzky Kaserne in Horn for basic training since the beginning of September. In total, the Guard, based at Maria Theresien Kaserne in Vienna, has around 400 cadre soldiers and trains 1,400 recruits annually. (Federal Ministry of National Defense)
