A new coronavirus cluster has formed in Salzburg’s Tennengau after a private party. There are currently more than 20 infections assigned to the group and 100 contact persons are in quarantine, Franz Wieser, a spokesman for the state, told the APA on Saturday afternoon. Contact tracing and containment are not yet complete. The country expects an update on the cluster’s figures on Saturday night.
Contrary to what the media reports, it is not clear in which municipality the celebration took place. In any case, it is evident that the celebrations were held in private rooms and therefore official approval was not necessary.
The case shows again that Tennengau is very concerned about family groups. Therefore, Wieser again pointed to the call made two days ago by Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) to severely restrict celebrations and meetings to a minimum. The state had recently tightened measures against the corona virus in Tennengau as sporting events on Friday are only allowed without spectators.
