In the federal capital, the beginning was not without problems, at least with regard to computer systems. This will also lead to a lower capacity overall. The day began with a failure in the IT recording system used by the military on all three test streets. It was necessary to switch to paper operation immediately. In other words: Participant data is recorded using forms and only later transferred to the system. This had no effect on the people who will be tested, as was repeatedly emphasized on Friday.
The 112 people whose results were positive in the rapid test underwent a PCR test carried out by the health authorities of Vienna in the testing centers.
In Tyrol, Governor Günther Platter (ÖVP) was delighted with the number of participants. “We have already received very good feedback that the processes on the site are working perfectly and that in many places the joint and determined fight against the coronavirus can really be felt. I would like to thank everyone who reviewed their Covid status today. – all of you helped thereby contributing to sustainably reduce the number of corona infections in Tyrol, “said the national director. Platter spoke of a “smooth process”.
In the “Ländle”, 192 of the 52,142 tests were positive. Governor Markus Wallner and Provincial Councilor Christian Gantner (both ÖVP) were satisfied and appealed to the undecided to participate in the tests for the next two days. Wallner said that a significant contribution to public health can be made in a matter of minutes. In Vorarlberg, 80 stations in 43 communities are available for testing, around 1,600 people are deployed for this.
Mayor Georg Willi (Greens) drew a positive intermediate balance: “The great interest shown by the people shows that the Innsbruckers stick together and help. Due to optimal preparation, there were no longer waiting times or queues at any of the locations “.
After there are apparently more problems with the federal registration platform for mass corona tests, the city of Linz will turn to its own system, Mayor Klaus Luger (SPÖ) said on Friday. The state of Upper Austria wants to decide after the weekend whether to activate its “Plan B”. LH Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP) spoke of “an unsurprising development” in view of the breakdowns: “As is often the case, the federal government advertises a lot, nothing works.” Starting from December 8, Linzers can register for the mass test at www.linz.at, which will take place throughout Upper Austria from December 11 to 14. There were also massive registration problems in Lower Austria.
Opposition at the federal level voiced massive criticism of the IT problems, which began two days ago with a data breach. SPÖ Federal Manager Christian Deutsch spoke of “chronic mismanagement”. The federal government foresees “a real collapse in the fight against coronavirus” every day, confirmed the head of the FPÖ, Norbert Hofer. For NEOS health spokesman Gerald Loacker, “it is becoming increasingly clear that this federal government no longer has anything under control in its crisis management.”
If the Chamber of Labor (AK) has its way, the time spent on mass testing for coronavirus should count as service time. In many cases it will not be possible to take the exam outside of working hours. AK President Renate Anderl believes this should be viewed as an inability to work for an important reason, and therefore work time. He reported on a series of inquiries from members about whether they would need to take time off for testing.
