In Austria, 423 people are currently hospitalized, 80 of them in intensive care units. In Vienna, 297 new cases were added in the last 24 hours.
The Austrian Interior Ministry reported 714 new infections on Saturday, increasing the number of positive results to a total of 42,214. So far, 787 people have died from the consequences of the coronavirus and 33,154 have recovered. The number of active diseases fell slightly from 8,413 to 8,273.
There are currently 423 people in hospital treatment, 80 of them in intensive care units. On Friday they were 411 and 78 respectively.
Location in Vienna
In Vienna, the federal capital, 4,331 people are currently suffering from an infection. In the last 24 hours, 297 new cases were added. This increases the total number of people infected demonstrably to 14,863, the city’s medical crisis team announced in a broadcast on Saturday (as of 8 a.m.).
There was also another death in Vienna due to Covid-19. He is a 91-year-old man. This brings the number of deaths related to the virus to 244. On the other hand, 10,288 people have overcome the disease and are healthy again.

17,443 tests since Thursday
Across Austria, 17,443 tests have been entered in the Epidemiological Register Register (EMS) since Thursday morning (20,409 the day before). As usual, the figures were very different in different federal states. In Vienna there were 5,488, in Lower Austria 3,280, in Upper Austria 1946 and in Carinthia 502. In Styria there were 2,463 tests in the last 24 hours, in Tyrol 1893 and in Vorarlberg 1062. In Burgenland there were 592 tests compared to Thursday. there were only 217 in Salzburg. A total of 1,545,634 PCR tests have been carried out throughout Austria since the start of the pandemic.
Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) had announced an increase in curfew controls by the police. As announced by the Interior Minister on Saturday, 2,239 restaurants and venues across Germany were searched on Saturday night. “Now everyone’s joint effort is needed to reduce the number of infections. The point is that we stand together and take up the determined fight against the corona virus,” Nehammer said.
