Corona’s numbers keep rising: Braunau wants to start exit checks

[ad_1]

Crown numbers in the Braunau district continue to increase rapidly. From Wednesday to Thursday there were 71 new infections. The seven-day incidence exceeded the 400 mark for the second day in a row. On Wednesday it was 415 and then it came back up sharply. “According to information from the state crisis team, we are now at 437.7,” the Braunau district captain said Thursday. That is again significantly higher than the value reported yesterday by the Agency for Food Safety and Health (AGES) (415.9).

Braunau prepares exit controls

The situation is reaching a critical point in Braunau. The district administration is planning exit checks for next weekend.

Check-ups on the weekend?

As reported, according to federal guidelines, exit controls are provided if the seven-day incidence in a district is greater than 400 for more than seven days. That would be the case in Braunau at the earliest next Wednesday.

Kronberger doesn’t want to wait that long. “It could be that we are already doing exit controls during the weekend,” he announced in an interview with the OÖN. Plans for this are ready. “We are just waiting for the country to go away.” That is why yesterday there were intense coordination talks between Braunau and the Landhaus in Linz. “We certainly won’t stand still and watch,” said Governor Thomas Stelzer (VP). However, there was no green light for controls when this number was published.

If there are indeed exit controls, these will be carried out in all border areas of the district. The alternative of controlling only in high incidence communities has been rejected, says Kronberger: “That would only have made sense in the case of cases in individual communities.” Infection numbers are relatively evenly distributed throughout the district area. Instead, there will be a “tight-knit network of mobile priority checks on exit roads.” 14 locations are set for checkpoints. They are located on the most important transport links. Kronberger: “We are still checking whether there are possible traffic controls at the facility.”

Support comes from state police headquarters and the military. However, seamless controls are not possible, the district chief knows this too. “The activity of travelers is particularly high in the south, towards Salzburg, because we cannot control them all.”

400 negative tests im Testbus

In recent days, the country’s test bus has been circulating in four municipalities in the district. Around 400 people had been tested in total, as of Wednesday noon there was not a single positive case. “This shows that in communities that had particularly high incidences, the chains of infection could be broken.”
