Second most violent wave of infections
“In the national statistics we also make comparisons with spring, and these are quite remarkable. On April 2, we had the most actively infected people with 807. Today there are 6,407, that is, eight times more”, explains Gernot Filipp, chief of the National Statistics. The day with the most new infections was March 27 with 119, today we have a weekly average of 580 per day. “The seven-day incidence was far exceeded. On March 29, it was 101.3, now 722.3. This is currently the highest value in Austria.”
People infected with corona grow old again
From Wednesday to Thursday alone, eight new Covid-19-related deaths occurred in the state of Salzburg, a total of 92. In the first eight months, 46 people died, and this number has doubled in the last four weeks alone.
“This is also related to the age structure. While it mainly affected younger people in the summer, the age of those infected has increased again since the beginning of September,” Filipp said.
