In the US, health center employees and residents of nursing homes and nursing homes should get vaccinated first. In England, the vaccine is now administered in 100 doctor’s offices.
Following the emergency approval of the corona vaccine from German pharmaceutical company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer, vaccination will begin in the United States (today) on Monday. First of all, employees of health facilities and residents of nursing homes and old people’s homes should be vaccinated.
After emergency approval was granted on Friday, the vaccine was packaged and shipped over the weekend. Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the United States, where the pandemic remains rampant, has exceeded 16 million people.
Initiation of vaccination in general practitioners’ offices
In England, starting this week, corona vaccines will be administered in general practitioners’ offices across the country. This was announced by the NHS’s National Health Service. In 100 locations across the country, people in their 80s, as well as nursing home residents and employees, are vaccinated with the recently approved preparation by Biontech and Pfizer. At first, the vaccine could only be given in hospitals due to complicated storage at around minus 70 degrees.
In the other parts of the UK, namely Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, vaccinations are planned for nursing home residents this week, according to the statement. The health system is the responsibility of individual regional governments.
In early December, Britain became the first country in the world to grant Mainz-based pharmaceutical company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer emergency approval for its corona vaccine. Last week, Margaret Keenan, 90, was the first person to receive regular treatment with the new vaccine. Four million doses of vaccines are expected to arrive in the country this year; another 40 million are expected next year. According to the government, this is the largest vaccination campaign in the country’s history.
